ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ
So let’s start with the Aqidah lecture. If you want to watch the lecture yourself, it will be below.
To start, Ustadh Tim Humble mentions the definition of Aqidah. However, it’s important to note that Arabic words have two meanings: one in the language of the Arabs and one in the religion of Islam. Ustadh gives the example of Zakat. We know zakat means a percentage of wealth you need to give every year(if you meet the requirements). But this is a definition in terms of the religion. In terms of the language, zakat is increasing/putting blessings in something/to purify.
So what does Aqidah mean linguistically? And how does it relate to Aqidah in the religion(beliefs of a Muslim like beleving in Allah, His messengers, books, the angels, the Day of Judgement, Qadr, etc)
- Tie something tightly

a. You hold onto your beliefs tightly - To grab something

a. You affirm your Islamic beliefs with conviction without doubt.
Allah knows best.
