السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

Unlike other words in the religion, Aqidah has the same meaning in the language as it does in the religion. We mentioned this in the last post.

Different scholars defined Aqidah in different ways:

  1. Shaikh Saleh Al Fawzan defined Aqidah as the 6 Pillars of Iman; they are Belief in Allah, the Angels, the Books, the Messengers, the Day of Judgement, and the Qadr(Predestination)
  2. An Egyptian scholar said that Aqidah are the 6 pillars of Iman + how we view the Sahabah.
  3. Aqidah are those things that you are 100% certain about.

4 (Ustadh Tim’s preferred definition). The things that you take from the Quran and Sunnah which the Muslim must believe in his heart in order for you to acknowledge the truth of Allah and his Messenger

Allah knows best.
