Topic 4: Why is Aqidah Important

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

Here are the reasons Ustadh Tim relates about the importance of Aqeedah:

1. It defines you as a Muslim(we mentioned this in our preview, look back at that for more info)
2. The first thing the Prophets called to was Aqidah. The Prophets all had the same Aqidah(beliefs), but they had differences in the Halal and Haram. Like the types of drink and types of food.
3. The Prophet taught Islam in Mecca for 11 years. What was taught primarily during that time was Aqidah. Praying 5 times a day came in the last two years. Zakat, Hajj, and Hijab came in his time in Medinah. The fact that he took all that time fixing people’s Aqidah before teaching about the acts of worship in Islam and the halal and haram shows the importance of Aqidah. Also, most of the surahs revealed in Mecca were about Aqidah, while most of the surahs revealed in Medinah were about the Halal and Haram.
4. Most of the Quran was revealed about matters on Aqidah.
