السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

Allah criticized blinding following people in Aqidah.

{ وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُواْ بَلۡ نَتَّبِعُ مَآ أَلۡفَيۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَنَآۚ أَوَلَوۡ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا يَهۡتَدُونَ }

“And when it is said to them, Follow what Allāh has revealed, they say, Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing. Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided?”
[Surah Al-Baqarah: 170]

The reason for this are:

  1. You will not be able to say in the grave that you believed in what your mom/dad/Shiekh believed in. You will be questioned on your own beliefs.

[The angels will ask you in the grave:

  1. Who is your Lord?
  2. What is your religion?
  3. Who was this man sent among you(prophet)?] (2)

  1. On the Day of Judgement you will questioned on your beliefs by consensus (Ijma).
  2. A wisdom might be that learning the core beliefs of Muslims is something everyone must and can do. As for the complicated matters of Fiqh and Hadith, etc. these might not be possible for everyone.

Allah knows best.
