As long as you follow the first 3 generations of Muslims, you are Salafi. You don’t need to pledge allegiance to any person or register at a masjid. You just need to follow the Islam that the Companions came with and those who followed them in good.

There are other names for people who follow the early three generations. Some of those include, AhlusSunnah wal Jamaa, Ahlul Hadith, and Ahlul Athar. All of these names are correct and can be used to describe those upon the Manhaj-us-salaf.
